Getting things done in communal workspaces

At work: What the [redacted] goes on all day at a communal workspace? Communal workspaces such as WeWork are all the rage in global cities big and small (they popped up in Cairo nearly three years ago, if we recall correctly), but what goes on there all day? And can you get any work done there?
