ON THIS DAY- On this day in 1952, the Egyptian army forced Prime Minister Ali Maher out of office after General Mohamed Naguib accused him of being slow to carry out social and land reforms demanded. Naguib then formed a new civilian government with himself as prime minister and commander-in-chief.
