The power of cultivating and maintaining your network
???? UNDER THE LAMPLIGHT-
Is invisibility a fate worse than failure? Pro networker Keith Ferrazzi thinks so. His book Never Eat Alone, first published 2005 highlights the importance of making connections and has some valuable lessons that still hold up, despite social media completely redefining the way we network (which is why he released an updated version in 2014). Ferrazzi had a humble upbringing, as the son of a steelworker and a cleaning lady. He grew up caddying at the local golf course where he learned the power of fostering the right relationships. He perfected the skill and used it to get a scholarship to Yale, a spot at Harvard for his MBA, and to build a network that included big names in Hollywood and Capitol Hill. He offers timeless, very implementable advice and tips on how you can grow your network, including the importance of constantly maintaining relationships with your circle of contacts as opposed to just reaching out when you need a favor. If you’re just starting out your career or need to brush up on your people skills this is a good next read.
