Twenty-six year old Dina Amin has been featured on The Daily Dot for Instagram videos she posts every Friday outlining what she calls her “tinker process” —her thoughts as she takes apart products ranging from pens and fluorescent lamps to PlayStation controllers and floppy disks. A graduate of industrial design from Universiti Teknologi Mara in Malaysia, Amin found opportunity in the lack of recycling or separation of trash in Egypt (we assume she means recycling done by consumers themselves, and not including the efforts of the Zabaleen and electronics recycling companies such as Recyclobekia). “We carry our phones with us 24/7, but we don’t even know what it looks like on the inside. That is a right that we, as users, have: to know our products.”
