On the horizon

No rest (or summer vacation?) for the wicked: Next week is shaping up to be a busy one for the House of Representatives.

Finance Minister Amr El Garhy is expected to meet with the House Planning and Budget Committee to discuss the latest draft of the value-added tax legislation on Monday, according to Parlmany, Youm7’s Parliament news-focused publication. Parlmany provides the latest draft of the bill following last month’s amendments, which included policy amendments and exemptions we previously noted.

A House committee will look into relations with Italy and the state of the Regeni case after Rome nixed the sale of spare parts for F-16 to Egypt. Parliament has summoned representatives from the ministries of interior and foreign affairs as well as the General Intelligence Directorate and the Prosecutor General’s Office to appear.
