Uber pledges zero tolerance for sexual harassment; Cairo Metro awareness campaign launches

Ride-hailing service Uber is teaming up with Harassmap to train and screen its drivers in an effort to establish a zero-tolerance attitude toward sexual harassment. Harassmap is a local initiative which also uses crowdsourcing tech to monitor and map sexual harassment. The announcement on Thursday came as the Imprint Movement launched a “What would you do campaign?” by plastering Cairo Metro stations with artist Ahmed Nady’s comics. The stunning artwork chronicles the daily plight and victim-blaming suffered by victims of sexual harassment, Mada Masr reports. By strategically placing the visceral images on one of the most crowded and obvious sites of sexual harassment, the campaign hopes to place a too-often-ignored issue front and center.
