ON THIS DAY- On this day in 1789, a day of thanksgiving was set aside by US President George Washington to observe the adoption of the constitution, making it the first national Thanksgiving in the US. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill establishing the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day officially in 1941. On this day in 1924, the Mongolian People’s Republic was proclaimed after the defeat of the White Russians and the Chinese. In 1950, the People’s Republic of China officially entered the Korean War on the side of North Korea. In 1940, the half mn Jews of Warsaw, Poland, were forced by the Nazis to live within a walled ghetto.
