Appliance distributor Raya Trade plans to begin assembling smart television sets in Egypt with an unnamed partner in 3Q2016, said Raya CEO Bassem Megahed. The company hopes to produce 50,000-60,000 TVs per year with components sourced from China, Megahed tells Al Mal without stating the size of the investment. The move would put the company in competition with Samsung and LG, which both assemble TVs in Egypt.
